A strategic communications studio that researches before writing
We combine qualitative research, professional editing and strategic communication to help organisations, institutions and authors say clearly what they need to say.
Angie Vásquez Books was founded in 2008 by Ángela Vásquez, anthropologist, dedicated reader and ethnographer. It was born with the aim of connecting Latin American writers with Spanish-language publishing. With a master’s degree in Publishing from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, and a master’s in Anthropology and Ethnography from the Universidad de Barcelona, Ángela has brought ethnographic research techniques and advanced technological tools into every project since.
Today, we combine strategic communications consultancy, professional editing and editorial content writing. Our work brings together a deep cultural perspective with solutions suited to each project’s specific needs.
We work with a network of independent professionals who share our commitment to quality and editorial excellence, including:
- Professional readers, who assess manuscripts against editorial criteria.
- Editors specialising in different genres and formats.
- Specialists in editorial design and illustration.
- Literary and technical translators.
- Communication and content specialists.
Every collaborator brings solid academic training, proven experience, and a genuine passion for work done well. This collaborative structure allows us to support you at every stage — from the first conversation through to the moment your project is ready to reach the people it’s meant for.

Every transformation begins with understanding.
We research before we intervene. We apply an ethnographic lens — observing closely, understanding the real context, documenting every step — to everything we do: editing, strategic communication, content writing or the integration of new tools. We don’t start from a template: every project begins by understanding what it genuinely needs, not what it appears to be asking for at first glance.
Phase 1 — Conversation
We listen to your project, understand your context and define what your message genuinely needs.
Phase 2 — Proposal
A clear plan, defined timelines and a fixed budget. No small print.
Phase 3 — Editorial work
Editing, proofreading and content creation, with shared reviews at every stage.
Phase 4 — Delivery
Content ready to publish, with support at launch if you need it.
Observe
We analyse how your project, your organisation or your manuscript works today, before proposing any change.
Understand
We identify real needs, opportunities and the points where the message gets stuck.
Design
We propose the process or solution the problem genuinely calls for — with or without new tools, whichever serves it.
Experiment
We test adjustments before rolling them out at scale.
Document
We record the process in a work log shared with you.
Evolve
We leave behind a judgement and a process you can sustain on your own, not a dependency.
We aim to be a benchmark in strategic communication and editing with real judgement, helping every project meet its goals through rigorous content and strategies suited to its context. We work by combining research, editorial judgement and a constant commitment to quality — honouring the Edición: arte, oficio y negocio programme at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona that underpins our approach.
We bring the same level of rigour to every project, whether it’s a communications consultancy, the editing of a manuscript, or writing specialist content. We want every message to resonate with its audience and fulfil its purpose, with a close, personal approach at every stage of the process.
Throughout our professional career, we have maintained links with various organisations and initiatives in the editorial, educational and technology sectors. These institutions have been present at different points along our path — through training programmes, publishing platforms and cultural entrepreneurship networks.
From manuscript to ISBN. As part of our work with authors, we offer ISBN management through our registration as an online publisher. This allows your book to be uniquely identified and makes it easier to distribute in physical and digital bookshops.
If you would rather manage it yourself, we can also support you through the process of registering directly with the Agencia del ISBN.
This website is not affiliated with, or institutionally linked to, the Agencia del ISBN. Official information: agenciaisbn.es.
